6:00–7:00 PM — Beginner Academy
Perfect for brand-new players and casual learners.
What we’ll cover:
- How the pieces move
- How check and checkmate work
- Simple opening principles
- Short guided games to get you comfortable
7:00–9:00 PM — Open Chess Night
A relaxed, community-focused chess evening.
Activities include:
- Casual free play – Paired by rating
- Friendly challenges – Mate in 1, Best Next Move
- Help for beginners
- Light coaching throughout the night
- “King of the Hill” table at 7:30 PM
About the Chess Instructor:
I’m Harrison, and I’ve spent years studying strategy, focus, and leadership both in and out of the game. Chess has always been a place of calm and connection for me, and I’m excited to bring that energy into our community. My teaching style is hands-on, patient, and beginner-friendly — I want every player, whether it’s your first game or your hundredth, to feel supported, confident, and welcome at the table.
